Lilith Fair was a concert tour/traveling music festival in the mid to late 90's founded by Canadian Singer/Songwriter Sarah McLachlan. It consisted solely of female solo artists and female-led bands. At a time when women musicians were told "No, you can’t put two women on the same concert bill—it’s box office poison." or "No, we can’t play your song—we already have another woman artist in rotation." Sarah McLachlan went on a mission to prove everyone wrong. And she did.
Lilith Fair spanned over 3 summers - 1997 to 1999. Featuring musicians like Sheryl Crow, Fiona Apple, Tracy Chapman, Lisa Loeb, and Jewel. It was the top-grossing music festival of 1997. Revolutionary & inspirational to women everywhere.
Hence, I wanted to create an annual event locally where we unite as a community to celebrate women musicians. On International Women's Day - women celebrating women while covering the most popular women of the 90's. Women that inspired each & every one of us to make and listen to music - creating the soundtrack of our youth.
This show will feature 12 women performing 24 songs from the infamous Lilith Fair Music Festival. Followed by a dance party to celebrate & close out the night.
