About this Event
In this 14-week peer-led model, veterans learn to be resilient through the experiences of others who have, or still are, on that journey. Participants learn twelve wellness practices, along with life skills such as emotional regulation, resiliency, and boundary setting to name a few. The course is divided into three phases. The first phase is the introductory phase that brings the team together and establishes the ground rules and expectations for the course. It is also where the group takes an enneagram assessment and learns the first five wellness practices. Phase two empowers the participants with cognitive behavior principles and an additional six wellness practices. This phase deepens their understanding that they have control over their thoughts and behaviors. The final phase continues to build the participants’ resiliency. This section is designed to strengthen their resiliency by building their confidence and competence in their new practices and coping skills.
At the end of the 14-week 50-hour program, each participant has a better understanding of who they are, and where they fit into their community. In addition, they have tools and practices to thrive in their new self. Much of this is done by changing unhelpful thought processes, improving emotional regulation, building resiliency, and developing personal coping strategies.
