About this Event
Conductor Dr Paul Gameson leads The Ebor Singers in a captivating festive concert, performing Part One of Handel’s iconic Messiah. Over two hundred years, Handel’s Messiah has been regarded as a masterpiece, loved by many and regarded as a national staple around Christmas. This part-German passion, part-Italian opera, part-English anthem, tells of the prophecies and birth of Christ. Join The Ebor Singers as we sing Part One, with famous arias and choruses including, ‘And the glory of the Lord’, ‘For unto us a child is born’, and ‘Glory to God in the highest’.
Alongside Messiah Part One will be seasonal favourites from John Rutter and Bob Chilcott – two contemporary composers known to be masters of Christmas. Few composers have captured the spirit of Christmas as Rutter and Chilcott, through their arrangements of popular carols and their settings of familiar texts. Hear the renowned voices of The Ebor Singers offer some of their favourites as we enter into the festive spirit!
