The Eagle Rock Gospel Singers:
The Eagle Rock Gospel Singers began as a collective of friends getting together in the summer of 2010. A choir of up to 15 revived the old Gospel spirit with songs like “I Shall Not Be Moved”, “12 Gates”, and “In My Time of Dying”. Slowly they evolved into a band of 5, committed to embracing the richness found in early 20th century recordings. Influenced by past Gospel musicians such as The Dixie Hummingbirds, Washington Phillips and Sister Rosetta Tharpe as well as current bands like The Black Keys, Wilco, and Calexico, the band creates a unique style drawing from rhythm and blues, alt-country, indie rock and folk.
A rousing celebration of traditional Americana music has always been the hallmark of The Eagle Rock Gospel Singers. A full length album released in 2015, Heavenly Fire, brims with fiery melodies and country moods, highlighting the band's notoriety for crafting original Gospel material. Their debut album laid the foundation for two successful North American tours.
The band has made appearances at prestigious festivals such as Winnipeg Folk Fest, Montreal Jazz Fest, Austin City Limits, and Voodoo Fest of New Orleans. The album also garnered high-profile song placements (MTV, Showtime, Amazon, Discovery Channel), as well as popular playlist spots. The group has played shows on bills with Phoebe Bridgers, The Record Company, Ivan and Alyosha, Madison Cunningham, The Wild Reeds, Wille Watson (of Old Crow Medicine Show), Jamie Drake, Sean Watkins, Sam Outlaw, The Dustbowl Revival, Marco Benevento and many others.
Their sophomore effort, "No Glory" featured a return to the Gospel roots that the group was founded on. The songs range from all out rockers to smooth a cappella numbers. The band's thumping rhythm section and choir singing places them in a unique position in which they constantly blend Americana music genres (blues, folk, country, and soul). The third album, "I Will Rise," was finished and released during the first half of the pandemic. It features Gothic/Apocalyptic Americana Gospel and ranges from anthemic songs like the title track,"I Will Rise," to M**der ballads like the song, "Moonlight." They are finishing their fourth full length album and aim to release it in 2023.
The Cross Eyed Possum Band:
The Cross-Eyed Possum is an award winning, nationally touring, and identical twin led Newgrass/Americana band playing festivals and events such as Pickin’ in The Pines 2023 and the 40th Annual Huck Finn Jubilee. They feature vocal harmonies like Crosby Stills and Nash, display the technical proficiency of a band like The Punch Brothers, and write original music inspired by such groups and also by their dedication to jazz and classical music while attending universities. The band is currently celebrating their second studio album “Out On My Own” which was released in July 2023.
