Professor of history, Anthony Anadio returns to the Castleton Lecture series in February to paint the picture of the Patroon Era of the Hudson Valley. The 17th century Hudson valley was an ideal setting for Dutch Adventurers and Patroons who settled an area seen as wild and open for opportunity. They built a system of trade and transportation that lasted for centuries, and remains a visible part of our lives, and within the village of Castleton to this very day.
Anthony Anadio chose to study History because he had life-long, wide-ranging interests and the discipline of History is the only one that can cover every subject. After finishing an Associate’s degree at Fulton-Montgomery Community College, Tony transferred to the University at Albany where he earned his Bachelor’s, Master’s, and Ph.D. in History with Warren Roberts as his longtime advisor and close friend.
His Master’s Thesis and Dissertation focused on the 19th-century landscape painter, Thomas Cole.
