The Dust Covers are a band that plays traditional Americana music. At least that's what most people are saying these days when trying to describe this music. It's a simple take on it, and it will do the trick to get you in the right neighborhood of music. One might go a step further and invoke Bascom Lamar Lunsford and the Appalachian Trail music traditions. One might also point out that only Lead Belly has more recordings in the Library of Congress than Bascom Lamar Lunsford. And when one is talking about The Dust Covers, all of this is relevant, because this band is a walking, playing encyclopedia of American music. Between them, they probably know thousands of songs. They will take you on a journey for a small snapshot of the history of American music. Two hours is just scratching the surface, but you will have one hell of a time listening to them sample the songbook.
Brian Curan handles a lot of vocals and a lot of guitar parts and fiddle parts. If a person owns a band, Brian owns this one.
Nick Pence is an old soul and a committed traveler of this song form. He is a perfect music partner for Brian in this ambitious venture.
Joey Glenn is most well-known for touring with Pokey LaFarge for years and years, but Joey is a man who has played thousands and thousands of shows, and his years with Pokey are only one part of it. Every traditional Americana musician has respect for Joey for his low-end style and consistency. Nobody knows more or does it better than Joey.
Colin Blair plays things with strings. He is liable to pluck a banjo, but he could do any number of things including singing, dancing and drinking will doing all of it.
We think this will be the quartet, but they might pick up an old friend to play washboard and handle percussion. We will update as needed.
This will be a lovely evening of music at Jack's Joint. Come enjoy!
