The 15th April 2025 marks the 80th anniversary of the liberation of Bergen-Belsen. This talk will focus on the work of the 7th Battalion Durham Light Infantry's role in the relief of the camp taken from moving eyewitness accounts of the scenes they witnessed upon entering the camp and during their work there.
Eminent local historian Dr John Sadler (Newcastle University) will guide us through the account of Captain Andrew Pares who left us a profoundly moving document of the relief effort.
Due to the nature of the talk it may not be suitable for people of a sensitive disposition or children under 12 years of age.
