ABOUT:
Do you love 2prov? The Duplex is for you! This new monthly duos showcase at The Glendale Room is an unscripted octagon of improv duo magic. 8 improv duos do eight 8-minute sets – at the eight minute mark, it’s time! And then at the end, 16 improvisers do a 4-minute set to bring back all the stuff from the previous sets. It’s a lot of fun!

Meet Your Hosts:
Fernando A. Funes is a writer-performer who produces shows in Los Angeles including Duo It Again at The Lyric Hyperion on the 2nd Tuesday of the month at 7:30pm, hosted by his duo improv team, FernGully, along with Kristen Gull of Nuisance. He also produces The Duplex, Fernando Funes’ Long Form and Short Form Supreme, and The Dazed & Confused Poetry Club. He is on the Pack House Improv team Nuisance. He is a member of The Company of Angels. His short film, “The American Dream” has been featured in over 43 film festivals, including the Philadelphia Latino Film Festival. He writes a poem for every day of the year. He’s very excited about his first poetry collection, Working Class PTSD, or How I Learned to Code Switch + Love Poems. Kristen Gull was born and raised in Southern California, and won the Medallion for Excellence in Theater from El Modena High School. She graduated from Sarah Lawrence College with Music & Theater concentrations- favorite projects include playing Mary Lane in Reefer Madness the Musical. Pre-pandemic, she toured with a children’s anti-bullying show called Power of One, and has starred in musicals and plays in Hollywood (Little Sally in Urinetown, Logainne in 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee, Fraggled Prod.) She has also professionally played princesses and cartoon characters, and now mostly teaches art and science to elementary school students after school. She’s a kitten rescuer and has 3 cats of her own.
