About this Event

Ringsend is at the heart of the story of Irish soccer. Several of the first teams in the city emerged there, and it remains a key part of the history of both Shelbourne Football Club and Shamrock Rovers Football Club. How did the game of association football arrive in Dublin, and what were the early challenges and opportunities before it? In pre-partition Ireland, how did football organise itself in a city with many competing sporting codes? Gerard Farrell is the editor and writer of 'A Bohemian Sporting Life', which explores the history of association football with special emphasis on Bohemian F.C.
