Final Draft was established in 2009 by Dr Joshua Lobb from the Faculty of Law, Humanities and the Arts, University of Wollongong and Director Fiona Finley from The Drama Studio. It enables emerging writers to create conditions in which they can actively engage in the development and production of their work. This year seven new works will be created under the theme:
THE CANTERBURY TALES
The Canterbury Tales is a collection of 24 stories told within a frame narrative by characters from different social classes and professions. Written in Middle English in 1387 -1400, The Canterbury Tales tells the story of a group of pilgrims travelling to the shrine of St. Becket. To pass the time a story-telling competition is proposed with a banquet promised to the person who tells the best tale.
The Canterbury Tales is considered among the most important works in medieval literature, providing a vivid and diverse portrayal of society offering valuable insights into the social, cultural, and religious aspects of the time.
