The Door next door is the story of two solitudes in search of a soul mate.
She is a Psychologist. He sells yoghurt.
They are neighbours on the same floor the best of enemies and like millions of singles lost in the city secretly exploring internet dating sites in search of love – for someone the exact opposite of the unbearable person living next door.
Directed by Yamine Boudemagh (Double Mixte) Fabrice Roger-Lacan's latest play plays on the confrontation of two opposites that will inevitably end up attracting each other.
But The Door next door is much more than a conventional sentimental comedy. Subtle and elegant this improbable rapprochement between two lonely people overflows with tenderness and charm and the buffoonery of slamming doors soon gives way to emotion...
A jubilant play with the excellent Empress Jade and Matas Danielius!
Fabrice Roger-Lacan’s play is a jaunty sentimental funny comedy.
The form is quite unusual. At times the two characters designated simply as ‘‘She’’ and ‘‘He’’ stop short and address the audience or think out loud in front of their respective computers. Sometimes they even say it – they feel like they’re just ‘’characters.’’
The play talks about contemporary ways of confronting reality but isn’t preachy and Fabrice Roger-Lacan makes you smile and laugh without being heavy-handed.
