The Dirty Little Secret of AI GPU Servers
GPU powered GenAI servers present challenges for deployment because of the power and cooling requirements. Through research, many GenAI GPU servers don’t have 2N power redundancy as many data center operators and managers have come to expect. Few data centers are built that do not seek to have concurrent maintainability, with a high level of expensive redundancy. Uptime Institute has stated: “Uptime Intelligence has found many data center's operators (and their clients) unsure of the best strategy (for AI Implementation) and likely to choose the safest option: build for concurrent maintainability.”
For hyperscalers, they’ve solved this by building unique AI-ready infrastructure. However, for other industries, like financial institutions, universities and healthcare facilities, there are unique problems implementing GPU servers in critical infrastructure environments. New solutions are currently being engineered to solve these challenges.
This session will speak to data center operators and end-users to understand the problems currently facing power redundancy and usage of GPU servers, the solutions available, and the benefits and importance of making sure these Servers and HPC environments are resilient.
