The Demetrius Doctor Trio will make their debut for the series on February 1 with a program of classic hymns in a Contemporary Jazz style like the Yellowjackets and The Baylor Project. Pianist Doctor will be joined by his wife, Corinthian Doctor, vocalist and Brett Belanger on bass. Demetrius has grown up steeped in the Gullah-Geechee musical influence of the Black churches in the Lowcountry and serves as a minister. He is also director of the Charleston Jazz Academy and an in-demand musician, composer, and producer.
