About this Event
BC’s Women Wage Peace supporter group -- together with co-sponsor Canadian Memorial Centre for Peace -- is delighted to invite you to join us in remembering the Icelandic Women’s strike of 1975.
The 2024 award-winning documentary, The Day Iceland Stood Still, celebrates the day when 90% of the women in Iceland walked off the job and out of their homes––refusing to work, cook, or take care of the children, bringing their country to a standstill, and starting a revolution. The collective power of these women transformed their society. For the past 15 years, Iceland has led the world in gender equality.
