About this Event
Join me on Saturday, January 31 at the Brookfield Library for The Cupid Project: Valentine Card Making Session 1. From 1:00pm to 4:00pm, participants will be making handmade Valentine's Day cards for the residents of several local nursing homes: Cantata Adult Life Services, Plymouth Place, and The Grove of La Grange Park.
This event will be located in Meeting Room 2 at the Brookfield Library. Due to room capacity, there are only 45 SPOTS for this event. Once all tickets are claimed, we will not be able to accommodate walk-ins. Therefore, tickets are required for entry to this event.
My goal is to create 350 Valentine's Day cards across 2 card-making sessions to ensure every resident receives one. If you're unable to attend but would still like to participate, stay tuned for Session 2 in early February or reach out to me directly about other ways you can contribute!
The Cupid Project is a non-profit organization that aims to combat loneliness among nursing home residents on Valentine’s Day through an annual card-giving initiative. Many seniors have lost their spouses, receive few or no visitors, and experience chronic loneliness that negatively affects their physical and emotional well-being. By organizing a card-making event, we can bring communities together to create heartfelt messages, reminding seniors that they are cared for and not forgotten.
Why It Matters:
- Over 1.2 million older adults in nursing homes, with many receiving no regular visitors.
- Loneliness is tied to serious health issues (heart disease, cancer growth, memory decline).
- A small act of kindness—like a handmade card—can have an enormous impact on someone’s day.
