Following their recent sold-out national tour celebrating 30 years since the release of 5 x ARIA Award-winning / Triple Platinum album, The Honeymoon Is Over,The Cruel Sea are pleased to announce their first Gold Coast show in 15 years at Miami Marketta this July, as part of the closing party for the SURFACE - Miami Street Art Festival.
Featuring Tex Perkins (Vocals), Jim Elliott (Drums), Ken Gormly (Bass) and Dan Rumour (Guitar), together with Matt Walker (Guitar) filling in for the much-loved & revered James Cruickshank, The Cruel Sea will headline an epic winter afternoon of music in the Miami Marketta laneway!
Joining them is Australia’s foremost bluesman Ash Grunwald, who has inspired a generation to hit the road in an old beat-up old van to ‘surf by day jam by night’.
As the sun sets, prepare to be mesmerized by our local legend Karl S. Williams, often described as a religious experience in musical form. His performance promises to be a soul-stirring highlight of the night.
“Williams plays a beautiful amalgam of blues, rock, country and gospel and has a voice like a goddamn angel” – Meg Williams (Beat Magazine)
Kicking off the festivities is the electrifying Calypso Cora, a fresh and dynamic quartet from the Northern Rivers region of NSW. Their unique blend of surf-soaked guitars and indie pop melodies perfectly captures the laid-back, sun-drenched spirit of their coastal hometown, setting the stage for a day full of good vibes and unforgettable music.
Don't miss this incredible line up and finale to SURFACE - Miami Street Art Festival 2024!
