We are coming back to one of our favourite places on earth: The Crooked Billet in Stoke Row! I’ve been playing this beautiful pub for over 20 years and there is a real affection, friendship, and musical history tied up in this place. It’s not just a gig. It’s a homecoming.
The Crooked Billet is legendary for its atmosphere, its beautiful rustic setting, and most of all its food. It’s one of those rare pubs where the kitchen has as much soul as the music. The dining room always feels alive on these nights, full of laughter, clinking glasses, great conversation… and then the band hits, and the whole place lifts.
This time we are bringing the Ben Waters Big Band. Expect full-throttle rock ’n’ roll, boogie-woogie, blues, New Orleans grooves, and a rhythm section that could raise the rafters. The musicians joining me are some of the very best in the country. This is going to be an electric night.
I’ll be joined by my son, Tom Waters on saxophone. Tom has been performing since he was eight years old, toured 52 countries before he was sixteen, studied at the Purcell School and graduated from the Royal Academy of Music. He has since played and recorded with Jools Holland, David Gilmour, Mick Hucknall, Shakin’ Stevens, Nine Below Zero, Amy Macdonald, and many others. He’s a powerful, soulful performer and a real force on stage.
As for me… over the years I’ve been lucky enough to work with The Rolling Stones, Chuck Berry, Jerry Lee Lewis, Jeff Beck, and Jools Holland, and to play venues from the Sydney Opera House to Ronnie Scott’s. Our album Boogie For Stu (a tribute to Ian Stewart) featured the full Rolling Stones lineup and topped the blues charts worldwide, with its artwork painted by Sir Peter Blake.
But nothing beats a night like this.
A room full of good people, great food, great atmosphere, and live music played from the heart.
