The Cribs are a British indie rock band originally from Wakefield, West Yorkshire that formed in 2001. The band consists of twins Gary and Ryan Jarman and their younger brother Ross Jarman. They have released eight full-length albums since 2004. The Cribs collaborated on these LPs with ex-Smiths guitarist Johnny Marr (Ignore the Ignorant) who was a part of The Cribs from 2008-2011, former Cars frontman Ric Ocasek (For All My Sisters), Alex Kapranos of Franz Ferdinand (Men’s Needs, Women’s Needs, Whatever), Lee Ranaldo of Sonic Youth (Men’s Needs, Women’s Needs, Whatever & Night Network), producer Steve Albini (24-7 Rock Star Shit), producer David Fridmann (In the Belly of the Brazen Bull), and many more.
The Cribs released their self-produced eighth album, Night Network in November 2020. Engineered by James Brown (Foo Fighters, Arctic Monkeys) and mixed by frequent Cribs collaborator John O’Mahony (who also worked on Men’s Needs, Women’s Needs, Whatever and For All My Sisters) the album was mainly recorded at the Foo Fighters Studio 606 in Los Angeles during the spring/summer of 2019. This album was encouraged by Dave Grohl telling the band in 2018 to “just come out to LA and make a record at our studio.” They return with a familiar friend, too – Lee Ranaldo, of Sonic Youth — playing guitar on ‘I Don’t Know Who I Am’.
The Cribs announced their “Sonic Blew Singles Club” in August 2021, a subscription service in which fans who subscribe to the singles club will receive four 2-track 7”s (also available on DSPs) between August and December. Subscriptions will be limited, and available while stocks last.
The band will be touring North America in early 2022 for the first time since 2017, along with a spring ‘22 UK tour and performing at Just Like Heaven in Pasadena, CA in May 2022.
