THE CREATIVE ECONOMY. Whose Economy? Whose Future?
By Culture Venture
Part of Culture At work Program DAY 2
The creative economy has long been celebrated as a driver of innovation, growth, and cultural value. But in today’s fast-changing world, are its promises still valid? This panel brings together leading experts to debate the future of creativity at the intersection of culture, finance, and policy. How level is the playing field for creative industries, and who is truly benefitting? Is creativity being instrumentalised in the service of technology and economic agendas, creating new barriers for artistic freedom? Have new financing models widened the gap between commercially scalable projects and experimental, risk-taking practices? The discussion will critically examine whether the creative economy can remain a force for cultural, social, and economic transformation, or whether it risks reinforcing the very inequalities it set out to overcome.
Following the panel, participants will join thematic group sessions to discuss key issues in greater depth, exchange perspectives, and share insights that will feed back into the collective debate.
This session will also serve as an a networking opportunity for cultural practitioners and entrepreneurs.
