Usually THE GREAT PLATE - the fundraiser for 2024 is instead focused around cups and mugs, saucers, teapots – as long as there is a cup somewhere as inspiration anything goes.As with the Great Plate, THE CREATIVE CUP is an opportunity for the Quarry community to gift back to the Centre. Artists create something around the cup theme which are then auctioned via TradeMe. Along with the bidders on the cups we are helping fundraise for key infrastructure at the Quarry.
The exhibition opens on Friday 12 July at 5pm, all welcome. This exhibition will be on for 3 weeks, with the final week being auction week starting from 26th July.
At The Great Plate events we have seen phenomenal sculptural riffs on a plate and we know that similar inspiration will come with working with a CUP as well. Around half the cups are made by the artists, and half have used premade cups made by the amazing Marilyn Wheeler, Julie Cromwell and Anabelle McCusker who made cups for artists to beautify.
