Tasting Climate Change: Exploring the Future of Wine
In what unexpected ways is climate change affecting the way we experience the world? What does it do to our palates? What does it do to the grape? And what does this mean for the future of wine making, as well as our drinking habits?
Experience climate change through the wine in your glass at a wine tasting like no other. Led by Debbie Warner, founder of Wild Wine School, seasoned wine expert and environmentalist, this session delves into how our changing world is transforming the taste of wine…
We’ll begin by tasting wines that reflect the impact of rising temperatures and changing grape varieties. As we explore how climate change is affecting ripeness, alcohol levels, and the balance of wine, you’ll not only taste these shifts—you’ll be invited to imagine the future. What might we be drinking in 20 years?
Through discussion and participation, we’ll question the viability and sustainability of newly emerging wine regions, the survival of iconic ones, and what the future holds for our favourite wines. This is not just a tasting; it’s an opportunity to consider how climate change is shaping the wine industry —and how we might adapt our drinking habits.

We are driven by the desire for open-access knowledge and tools for imagination in a world that desperately needs both. The Convivial wishes to break down institutional walls and share the wisdom within them with those who are best placed to use it – the community itself.
