About this Event
We will be planting tree whips to create a new 100m hedgerow in Twickenham Cemetery. We will also plant two larger disease resistant elm trees which will provide food and habitat for the rare white-letter hairstreak butterfly. This project was made possible with the support of a grant from The Tree Council and Network Rail’s Community Tree Planting Fund received by Richmond Council.
Hedgerows are valuable habitats as they provide a dense and varied scrub for animals to nest and feed within. Hedgerows also provide a long, continuous, green corridor to aid the movement of species across greenspaces.
Meet at the northern edge of Twickenham Cemetery, in Section S, at 10:00am. Look for the TCV van. To get to Section S, enter the cemetery via the rear entrance off Hospital Bridge Road. Take the first left, following the paved road to the back of the cemetery.
