The Company Dressed in GreenA May Day celebration with the Chivalrous Crickets
Welcome the spring and usher in the coming summer with The Chivalrous Crickets as they celebrate the season, Celtic Festival-style. The Crickets combine ancient and newly-created customs to create a rollicking May Day (aka Beltane) experience for the whole family. Centered around a concert of spring-associated folk music, expect sing-along May Day carols, children's games, a lottery to crown the May Queen and King, a historic short Robin Hood Play, poetry, arts & crafts in the lobby, refreshments, and MAY POLE DANCE!
Wear your ribbons, your favorite festive spring attire, and join the Crickets - and WDIY’s “Celtic Cultural Moment” host, theater artist Kate Scuffle - in the magical Greenwood for song, dance, ritual and play!
DOORS OPEN 3:30PM for lobby activities: May Bush ribbon tying, head wreath making, face painting, photo op in the “Greenwood”
SHOW from 4:00-6:00pm
Ticket holders receive $20% off at Donegal Square on May 18 and May 19. The audience is encouraged to join us at The Red Stag Pub after the event for dinner and a drink! The bar is featuring a cocktail created for May Day called “The Beltane”.
