The Antagonists:
The Great Lakes Homeguard (BLUE) will be led by Tyler ‘Sugar’ Gray of Viper Squad Paintball & his XO Jesse ‘Lamby’ Lamberth of Currahee Paintball.

The Story:
With the forces of the United States resecuring control of G.A.M.B.I.T. during the EU's "Tente Bleue" invasion of the northern American states, the US defense was poised to turn the tide of the war in their favor. Unknown to US command until it was moments too late, secret documents indicated the redundant command and control systems for the satellite weapon were damaged, and any reconnection would be interpreted by the system as a hostile takeover. Uplink was still attempted, and G.A.M.B.I.T. fired, following its Broken Arrow protocols.
A dust cloud equal to that of the eruption of a super volcano has engulfed the Earth in shadow, as debris from the blast spewed into the upper atmosphere, blocking out the majority of the sun. Global temperatures lowered, making summers feel like winter, and winters into life-threatening ordeals for the unprepared in a new mini ice age. Estimates are that only 25% of life on Earth survived in the first few years. The great cities are wastelands. The survivors of humanity have gathered in loose cooperative groups, roaming bands of marauders controlled by warlords, or communities controlled by what was left of state or local governments. The battle for survival has led to conflicts over resources and ideology.
No one had all the facts. What is known is the G.A.M.B.I.T. satellite's last known location and targeting position was somewhere in the Zagros Mountains in Iran. The devastating results of the activation of the weapon indicate a discharge at the upper limits of its calculated power. The best calculations of the discharge power of the weapon are that it would have created a planet crust-shattering explosion. Nearly everything within a couple thousand kilometers of the impact location was decimated, killing hundreds of millions in the few minutes it took for the shockwave to expand. The immediate secondary effect was the discharge of a massive electromagnetic pulse that skipped across the atmosphere, wiping out electronics and technical infrastructure across the globe. North America, in the midst of a war, was hit the hardest.
The European Union's invading army, based in Canada and with a small foothold in the northern US, with its staged logistical supplies and military organization, was uniquely suited to stay together and form a survival network after the disaster. With an intact leadership structure, support from the Canadian people, and inability to safely cross the Atlantic to return home, they solidified their position as a regional power. In contrast, the defending US forces quickly fell apart as the members of the military deserted to return to their homes and families. This gave the EU forces the ability to dig in, control the resources of the local area, and maintain some level of order, forming the New Euro Federation, under the leadership of Commander Zach Riley. They moved to extend their influence across the north of the continent to the Atlantic before stalling in the area of the Adirondack mountains and the Great Lakes.
Many survivors and citizens of the fallen United States still see the New Euro Federation as an invading force to be pushed from their land. The remaining US military forces and American survivors of the chaos of the Collapse following the Aftermath engage in periodic clashes and maintain resistance. The largest of these groups, The Great Lakes Homeguard, led by US Army Colonel Tyler ‘Sugar’ Gray, has found direction from the memory of militia leader and war hero Col. Benjamin Maverick, who was last seen riding his black Appaloosa "Zoro" into battle, holding aloft the sword of a retired General John ‘Sandman’ Russell headlong into a fortified line of Euro troops.
In recent weeks, rumors of a large, hardened military doomsday supply cache in the Niagara Escarpment have spread like wildfire. Evidence of its location was found in the possessions of deceased photojournalist Cidney Jefferson at a survivalist community led by Dr. Selene Okan. With the Arctic-like summer just setting in and another deadly winter on the horizon, both groups are set for a showdown to find and secure the crucial military supply cache that may be the key to both survival and dominance over the region.
The race is on to secure and seize control of these locations and gain the critical supplies needed to survive “The Aftermath.”
