From West London, Nottingham and South Wales come the Cold Head with their take on Art Pop. The Cold Head push as many buttons as possible with Beatles/XTC shadows ('Spirit of the Beehive') 80s film references ('Baby it's Cold Inside') bang up to date grooves ('The Cold Head’, 'Waiting for the Archaeologists') straight ahead rockers ('Get With It’, 'Racing Mind'). Ska stepper ‘Nothing Can Stop Us’.
Led by Doug Stephens (Modern Humans), band members Tim Whelan and Hamid Mantu (Furniture, Transglobal Underground) and Rose Eyre on vocals. James McQueen or Martyn Piggott on bass. There's more than an echo of Furniture, one of the 80's more enigmatic cult bands, in the mix.
A most enigmatic and thought provoking band playing original material with a few old school covers thrown in: Time Tough, Yeh Yeh, It’s Not Unusual, You Only Live Twice.
From Art Pop to prog-pop, with plenty of stops off in between - listen up. Plenty of danceability and catchy tunes. A band built for live performance and running now for over 10 years. The Cold Head have released 2 albums and the third album 'Spirit Cooking', is just manufactured. Out soon...
