On the speaker:
Dr. Frederick Leickly is an emeritus professor of pediatrics, at Indiana University School of Medicine. He is from Cleveland, Ohio. He has been married to Linda for 51 years with 3 children and 5 grandchildren. He graduated from Cleveland State University and attended Case Western Reserve University graduate school, department of pharmacology and the School of Medicine. His residency was in Pediatrics at Duke University, and he pursued postgraduate studies in Allergy/Clinical Immunology. He has been the recipient of many medical awards and has published on topics including asthma, immunology, and food allergy. After receiving awards for his work in public health he returned to school to earn his Masters of Public Health. His medical career includes almost 25 years at Riley Children’s Hospital.
He also has interests in history, specifically as it relates to the Civil War. His retirement has allowed him to pursue these interests. His great grandfather fought for the 2nd Ohio Volunteer Cavalry and survived to write his recollections of his experiences. Dr. Leickly has been a member of the Sons of Union Veteran of the Civil War for the past 22 years. He serves as Senior Vice Commander and Secretary for the John B. Anderson Camp #223. This Camp has been in partnership with the Historical Society helping with the Talking Tombstone programs. The Camp has also been very active in looking for recognition for those sons of Bartholomew County who gave their lives during the war.
