About this Event

This is, in reality, a sight-seeing walking tour with a narration (including time to smell the roses as we walk). Before the end of the tour, you’ll gasp “I didn’t know that!!” Too many of us take our own country for granted. We shouldn’t. This is one tour that will keep you updated on some of our last few remaining monuments and buildings.

You’ll also learn why and how they came to be so. It may sound unbelievable, but there are many of us who have yet to step into our very own Old Supreme Court. This old looking building isn’t exactly really old. It was built only in 1939 – just about at the same time when they were struggling to build public housing for the burgeoning population.

This tour will refresh our memories for many of our senior citizens, and at the same time, give our younger audience a first-hand account of what happened around these areas – especially our Singapore River. By the end of this tour, you will also understand why Sir Stamford Raffles didn’t quite agree with William Farquhar who by now, many of us see as “The Unsung Hero of Singapore”.

We meet at the Sir Stamford Raffles statue in front of The Victoria Theatre and Concert Hall at 9.30am on the 22nd May 2022. We hope to be done by 12pm.

Note:

  • We do the world wide practice of tipping at the end of the tour.
  • We also reserve the right to accept or reject habitual late cancellations and No Shows.
