📸 Free Community Photography ClassWe are beyond excited to announce that thanks to Councilman Dave Woerpel, we’ve been given an incredible opportunity to explore and photograph the historic Hammond Distilling Company.
📍 Where: Calumet Ave. & 150th Street. Hammond, Indiana
đź—“ When: Next Thursday, August 28th
⏰ Time: 5:00–6:00 p.m.
The Hammond Distilling Company first opened in 1902, producing up to 25,000 gallons of spirits a day before closing in 1917 due to Prohibition. From bourbon and sour mash to rye malt gin and refined alcohol, it was once a powerhouse of industry and culture in Hammond’s early days.
This is a rare opportunity to step inside history and capture it through your lens. Honestly, I didn’t even know Hammond once had a massive distillery, and that’s what makes this so special—rediscovering the city’s hidden past together.
Bring your camera or your phone—and if you don’t know how to shoot off your phone, we’re more than willing to help you out with that.
Join us for this free community photography class led by Lauren Thiel, founder of The Art Table. Come experience a piece of Hammond’s story with us.
✨ Don’t miss this one—we can’t wait to see you there!
