The Christmas Trail, presented by Littlejohn United Methodist Church, debuted in the year 1995. This year we celebrate the 30th anniversary of our Christmas Gift of Love to All. The trail is an annual event that has become a Christmas tradition in our community. A free experience---a guided hike through the Christmas Story, which begins with Isaiah speaking of the coming Messiah to give hope to Israel and the world of a coming King that would be blameless and able to take away the sins of the world.
We then follow Mary and Joseph through many scenes, as the prophecies are fulfilled and the Christ child is born in the city of Bethlehem.
The walk continues at the Courtney Chapel, which was rebuilt from the logs of the Littlejohn Church from the 1800's, with a brief message from a 19th century circuit rider, and ends at the bonfire with hot chocolate, fellowship, and new friendships.
The walk is about 1/4 mile on a gravel trail---dress warmly with good footwear.
Some visitors come back year after year to "start their Christmas season off on the right foot."
Some come for their first visit to experience the Christmas story they know from their Bibles.
And some hear the good news for the first time ever from the characters on our trail.
What a privilege we have.
What a responsibility God has assigned to us.
