Conducting Gestures Workshop, Presentation, and Question/Answer sessionThursday, Jan. 22, 2026, 6:30 p.m.
University of South Alabama’s Laidlaw Performing Arts Center,

The Mobile Chapter of the American Guild of Organists and the University of South Alabama Department of Music will host Dr. Peter Steenblik, the Director of Choral Activities at the University of West Florida, the Chorus Master for the Pensacola Opera, and the Artistic Director of the Choral Society of Pensacola
to lead us through a conducting gesture workshop.
Several participants of varying experience will conduct a piece and Dr. Steenblik will offer guidance and tips on gesture.
After the workshop, we will have a round of Q and A to learn more about Peter’s choral philosophy and approach.
We are very excited to host Peter and we hope you can make an effort to attend and get the word out. Choral music lovers of all capacities are welcome! (you don’t need to be AGO member)
