About this Event
The opening reception curated by The Chocolate City Experience will transform the iconic
Shanklin Hall space into a living museum serving as an homage to the good ol’ days. This celebration is a thank you letter to the culturally rich D.C. that taught us how to gather, honor our existence while holding each other up. We’ll hopscotch our way through the entrance, double dutch on the dance floor while DJ RWEONTHEAIR sets the tone on theones and two’s. Pull up, immerse yourself in the art by participating in throwback rounds of dominoes and spades.
A Free DC info station roots us in the now, declaring that Black D.C. remains, unmoved, unforgotten with a permanent seat at the table, despite the pressures of gentrification, The Pack makes sure you leave with authentic merchandise in hand.
Come hungry for more than art, food and drinks available for purchase as the space comes alive with culture, connection, and sound.
This is more than a show; it’s a D.C. homecoming, closing out Black History Month with theBlacker the Berry, Sweeter the Juice kind of energy!
Our stories deserve walls, light, music, and movement. Come through, bring your people, and let’s get it poppin’!
