About this Event
Etymology Records releases Buck McDaniel's The Chelsea Preludes, an album of works for cellist Julia Henderson and harpist Sonia Bize in a free concert at The General Theological Seminary in Chelsea, New York. Each piece is a study in melancholy exploring themes of collective memory, community, and abstract spirituality. Set in GTS's historic Chapel of the Good Shepherd, few spaces in New York City offer the architectural ambience of what's collectively known as "Chelsea Square".
In addition to the Preludes, the concert features works for harp and cello by John Cage and Mario Lavista. McDaniel performs organ works of Johann Sebastian Bach and Nico Muhly on General Seminary's historic Holtkamp organ.
