From June 2022 Families Growth & Thrive Charitable Trust gathered 30 enthusiastic students ranging from primary to high school to be a part of this project - The Capsules. We have all seen colourful Nespresso coffee capsules in our lives, they are so exquisite and beautiful but did you know that they can be a great harm to the environment if disposed of incorrectly? The used coffee grind inside the capsules is compostable, while the capsule shells are recyclable, but when put together, they go nowhere. The Nespresso company actually recalls all used capsules in order to clean and recycle them. However countless capsules are still being simply thrown into landfills everyday. We thought that it would be such a pity to waste these capsules by letting them become harmful to the environment when they have so much more artistic potential.
Families Growth & Thrive Trust organized workshops that help students to design and create their own special art pieces from the Nespresso coffee capsules. All works will be for sale and Families Growth & Thrive will donate all revenue made from the exhibition to Breast Cancer Foundation NZ to support the research on breast cancer.
