About: Catholic social thought (CST) has yet to engage very deeply or directly with some of the most daunting challenges of the current ecosystem of information technology, from the effects of social media to the deployment of artificial intelligence. The need to do so is urgent as we grapple more and more with the impact of new technologies on human development and the common good. The cornerstone of the Catholic social tradition is the recognition of the dignity of the human person, but how should our understanding of human dignity evolve in ways that respond to these emerging dangers and promises of our time? This lecture will propose some avenues, both methodological and substantive, for developing the concept and practice of human dignity in CST in the digital age.
How to attend: This lecture will be held at Campion Hall as well as streamed online. When you register, please select either the "online" or "in-person" option. Please note that there is limited capacity for in-person attendance. If you register to attend online, you will receive the livestream link on the day before the event.
