Marlo is a Brooklyn based poet who views poetry as a form of therapy and self expression. She utilizes dynamic storytelling through her vulnerability and animated stage presence to introduce topics of mental health, family, grief, personal identity, and sexuality. She is the curator and host of The Butterfly Effect, a monthly poetry showcase / open mic event held in Brooklyn. Marlo thrives on connection within her community and prioritizes creating spaces for all artists to feel welcome and safe. Through her work she aims to help both herself and her community to navigate through life’s challenges.

ShakinDaWorld is a rapper, guitarist, singer and spoken word artist born and raised in Queens. Hip hop, R&b and wordplay was all the influences that help him grow into the man he is today. He first started poetry after reading How A Rose Grew From Concrete by Tupac Shakur. Poetry ever since then and the arts has gave him life, allowing him to express himself freely and creatively. He has been performing for 2-3 years. He’s been playing guitar for 10 years and has accompanied a lot of local artist with many concerts. He’s also an Off Broadway & Grammy nominated guitarist for JRose Poetry Album (A Piece Of My Crumble Thoughts). He also is on tour with a band called the Cool Company hitting state after state after state. He has performed/ featured all over the 5 boroughs and popular places like the Voices In Power, SoFar Sound, Nuyorican Poets Cafe, SOB’s, Nublu, Club Groove, the Bowery Electric, the Bowery Poetry Club, Town Hall Theatre, and etc.

Kurrent is a Long Island native musician, singer, poet and producer that specializes in performing R&B and Soul. Combining elements of both music and poetry on stage, he believes we should embrace ourselves and be comfortable with self expression and emotional awareness.
