Last month’s Financial Times talked of Real Madrid’s new 1.2 billion (Euros) stadium as being akin to a new arms race as the top football clubs across Europe strive to raise billions of euros, dollars and pounds from stadium re-development as a means to creating a more diverse cash flow. Locally Scottish clubs are building hotels and appealing to American music stars such as Taylor Swift to invest in Scottish football.
With talk of European super leagues, increased revenue gaps between the best and the rest, the growth of women’s football presented as one of the single biggest growth opportunities in football today and calls for a fairer distribution of funds throughout the wider game - there has perhaps never been a more pressing moment to take stock and reflect upon the fast-changing Business of Football.
Why not join us in an evening of football discussion as we hear Calum Ross, Deloitte Sports Business Group, account for some of the major changes impacting upon the Business of Football both now and looking to the future?
The lecture will be followed by the opportunity to ask questions formally and discuss the lecture and network.
The evening is jointly hosted the University of Edinburgh Business School and the University of Edinburgh Academy of Sport and will be of interest to students, the football industry and others interested in the Business of Football. The event hosts are University of Edinburgh’s Professor Chris Carter, Chair of Strategy and Organization and Professor Grant Jarvie, Chair of Sport.
