About this Event
Angela Boehm is a Canadian artist living and working in Calgary, Alberta. Her practice is inspired by the inevitability of mortality, highlighting the rhythms of nature and the intangible qualities of memory. Translating work to carefully constructed narratives for books and installations is fundamental to her visual stories.
During this presentation, Angela will discuss the process of creating and releasing her successful title Minus 30 and how she uses photography to build visual stories for books and installations.
Angela’s work has been featured at Paris Photo, Art Toronto, Contemporary Calgary, and the London Photo Festival. She is the recipient of the London Photo Festival Landscape Award (UK), the Exposure Festival Emerging Photographer Award, and the Focus Festival's Landscape Award. Her body of work, The Giving Trees, has been exhibited as a solo exhibition at the Wild Skies Gallery and C Space King Edward Gallery in Calgary. Her latest work, Minus 30, has been nominated for the Prix Pictet award, selected for exhibition at Contemporary Calgary's Exposure Festival's Showcase and is the subject of her first monograph, published by Hartmann Projects (Stuttgart, Germany). Minus 30 was showcased at Paris Photo. Minus 30 has recently been chosen as a Charcoal Book Club book of the month.
