ABOUT THE ARTISTS
JANE & THE RAIN
Award-winning Australian duo Jane and The Rain perform lyric-driven folk and jazz originals of great resonance and depth. Winners of Song of the Year at the Yungaburra Folk Festival in 2020, Jane and The Rain deliver a rich blend of delicious, thought-provoking lyrics, soaring harmonies and intricate guitar. Their songs explore what it means to be human. Jane is a multi award-winning author, journalist and songwriter. She teaches songwriting and creative writing in beautiful places around the World and is a qualified therapeutic writing coach. Neil "The Rain" Steward is a composer and holds a Doctorate in Music from the University of New England.
RAG WIZARD
Rag Wizard is a collective of local jazz musicians performing a unique blend of ragtime, trad jazz, swing, and blues. Formed in 2023 with Bayden Mitchell on resonator guitar at the helm. The group is dedicated to capturing the spirit of old dance halls and jazz clubs of a bygone era. For their appearance at The Bug, Rag Wizard will be bringing a very special lineup: Lachie Alexander – Clarinet Zoe Atkinson – Trombone Dennis Duigan – Mandolin / Vocals Bayden Mitchell – Resonator Guitar Matty Eves – Upright Bass
