REGISTER NOW - The Brighton Tumour Microenvironment Conference - 2024
The tumour microenvironment (TME) has a fundamental role in supporting tumour growth and progression. The TME develops together with the tumour, and this development is regulated by complex intercellular communication between tumour cells and a diverse population of cellular components, including immune cells, fibroblasts and endothelial cells. The extensively studied tumour associated macrophages, cancer associated fibroblasts and fibrous protein network (the extracellular matrix) within the TME provide potent tumour support by promoting tumour cell viability, invasion and migration, and facilitating metastatic spread. The TME also contributes to chemo- and immunotherapy resistance. Depriving the tumour of its support by inhibiting pro-tumour mechanisms and communication routes within the TME is considered an important approach to suppress tumour growth and metastasis.
Recent advances in molecular technology, including single cell sequencing and spatial omics have provided unparalleled insights into the complexity of the TME.
This meeting will discuss the latest developments in TME research, focusing on the diverse subsets and spatial distribution of immune cells and fibroblasts, tumour promoting functions and mechanistic details of targeted inhibition of the TME.
The meeting will also provide a platform to align recent developments in TME research with clinical demands for new predictive and prognostic tumour markers and therapeutic targets for effective treatment of cancer patients. The increasing global cancer incidence makes the analysis of the TME an imperative task.
Abstract Submission
For delegates interested in presenting a poster during the conference, please submit abstracts (max. 300 words) post-registration to [email protected] for consideration.
