Altfolkové duo z britských ostrovů překračující hranice žánru / Hvězdy Respect Festivalu 2024 se vrací do Prahy!
Původem irská zpěvačka Ríoghnach Connolly se narodila s talentem, jaký přichází jednou za generaci. Díky procítěnému leč neokázalému projevu s ponorem do folkových balad je srovnávána s už nežijící Sandy Denny z Fairport Convention. Stuart McCallum z Manchesteru je výraznou postavou progresivní nadžánrové scény. Uznávaný kytarista s všestranným talentem a akademickou kariérou působil řadu let v Cinematic Orchestra a dalších projektech. Tato atypická dvojice založila roku 2016 The Breath s cílem prezentovat britsko-irský folk v novém světle. Jejich koncert byl překvapením festivalu Womex 2023, o rok později nadchli české publikum na Respect Festivalu v Praze. Známkou kvality je i to, že jejich alba vydává Peter Gabriel na své značce Real World. Ríoghnach Connolly získala nominaci na cenu irského rozhlasu a roku 2019 zvítězila v anketě BBC Folk Singer of the Year, kde bylo duo The Breath nominováno jako nejlepší skupina.

Originally from Ireland, singer Ríoghnach Connolly was born with the kind of talent that comes once in a generation. Her soulful but unspectacular delivery with a dive into folk ballads has earned her comparisons to the late Sandy Denny of Fairport Convention. Manchester's Stuart McCallum is a prominent figure in the progressive trans-genre scene. An acclaimed guitarist with versatile talents and an academic career, he has worked for many years in the Cinematic Orchestra and other projects. This atypical duo formed The Breath in 2016 with the aim of presenting British-Irish folk in a new light. Their concert was a surprise at Womex 2023, and a year later they wowed Czech audiences at Respect Festival in Prague. The fact that their albums are released by Peter Gabriel on his Real World label is a sign of their quality. Ríoghnach Connolly received a nomination for an Irish Radio Award and won the 2019 BBC Folk Singer of the Year poll, where the duo The Breath were nominated as Best Group.
