The Brackish. They write instrumental music that lies somewhere between psych-jazz and kraut-rock that is delivered with an incredible energy and force, often rolling into longform improv. Featured members of This is the Kit, Zun Zun Egui, Elles Bailey, I often refer to the players as 'the Bristol music mafia' – these cats can play. The seeming want to push beyond the realms of conformity creates a euphoric feeling in the listener, you know you're witnessing something remarkable, though it's almost impossible to say precisely what. Perhaps that's the aim, whatever the cause, the effect has been lapped up by crowds in the psych-rock underworld for some years, the band viewed by their contemporaries as one of Bristol's finest outputs, ever.
