About this Event
This is not a sewing class.
This is an insider opportunity to look into the world of live performance costume design.
Amy (aka Sewie Bowie) is the costume maker behind The Bowie Experience, a touring tribute band performing across the UK. Over the last decade, her costumes have been worn on stage, under lights, through movement, heat, sweat, and travel — and they’ve had to survive it all.
On 21st February, Amy joins us at the Southampton Sewing Hub to share:
Things we'll discuss
- How stage costumes differ from fashion and everyday garments
- How to source the right materials for stage and relevance
- What designers must consider for movement, lighting, and durability
- Common mistakes costume designers make (and how to avoid them)
- What a real career in costume design actually looks like
- How designers work with performers, bands, and production teams
