About this Event
The Bookshop Band + Egenis = a concert
Over the past year and a half, The Bookshop Band has been artists in residence at Egenis; the Centre for the Study of the Life Sciences, at Exeter University. They have gone to classes, attended lectures, seminars, field trips, been on retreats, put their hand up, stayed silent, did their homework, read the books, read ther papers (sometimes didn't), talked to people in the corridors and in the pub afterwards - all the time immersing themselves in the comings and goings, the conversations and topics, and the people. And being truly inspired by it all.
It's a unique situation, really. Embedding a band into a science department, and seeing what comes out of it all. Who would do such a crazy thing? But then, perhaps interesting things arise from interesting interactions. Well, this is the chance to see what has in fact arisen! The Bookshop Band will be debuting the 10 new songs they have written, with responses from the scientists, PhD students and lecturers that inspired them. Plus an opportunity for conversations before and after.
A truely one-off night, who knows how it will go! It's an experiment, but isn't that the right idea? Come along and be part of it, and see how the evening unfolds.
Doors open at 6pm, with drinks and nibbles, and the performance will start at 7pm.
We're excited (and a little bit nervous)
