With morning and afternoon workshops, you will walk away with a new perspectives on how trees grow and their characteristics.Two different workshops are on offer on the Saturday and Sunday of the Maleny Wood Expo delivered in the morning and afternoon.
Morning sessions
How to Read a Tree and Tree Characteristics
This 2-hour workshop is based on arboriculture principles that will change the way that participants look at trees forever. The first 1.25 hr will be learning the principles and then the next 45 minutes we will go and look at trees to further discuss and observe the principles outlined in the workshop. Topics such as compression and tension wood will be discussed.

Saturday May 4th, 9.30am to 11.30 am
Sunday May 5th, 9.30am to 11.30 am

Afternoon sessions
Tree Characteristics – What is a tree trying to tell us?
This 2 hour workshop will go through 10 main characteristics that can be observed in some trees at some time in their lives. What do they mean and how do they impact a trees health and/or structure.
Come and learn more about the wonderful uniqueness of every tree. We will spend 1.25 hr. learning about the characteristics then go for a 45-minute walk to look at the local trees and see what they have to say.

Sunday May 5th, 1.30pm to 3.30 am
Cost: $10 per person

Age: All ages welcome, children to be accompanied by adults
Each workshop limited to 25 people.
What to wear and things to bring:
Comfortable closed in walking shoes and sun protection for going outdoors
