About this Event

‘Jack of all trades, master of none… oftentimes better than a master of one’, how do we create from a place of many? How can the disruption multi-tasking create opportunities and new knowledge? How can all this be successfully shared and understood in the era of the soundbite?

Q&A with Debris Stevenson, a writer, Grime poet, actor, educator and PhD candidate whose work explores the intersectional, unexpected and unjust. She has performed and taught in more than 30 countries, founded and directed the Mouthy Poets—raising over £300,000 to support emerging talent—and designed performance‑poetry modules at the University of Nottingham. Her acclaimed grime‑musical Poet in da Corner premiered at the Royal Court and toured nationally, and she made her screen acting debut in Medusa Deluxe, which premiered at the Locarno Film Festival in 2022. Debris is also the co‑adapter of the Royal Shakespeare Company’s 2025 production of Cyrano de Bergerac, created with director Simon Evans. A self‑described pro‑raver and social activist, she continues to create work that challenges audiences to think, move and question the world around them.

This event is hosted by CoRA - The Centre of Research in the Arts at Oxford Brookes, and is part of the 6th International Creative Industries Festival organised by the Creative Industries Research and Innovation Network at Oxford Brookes University, it is FREE and OPEN TO ALL!
