Many knew Bob Ferry as the longtime basketball player turned general manager of the NBA's Washington Bullets (now called the Washington Wizards), but at the Y, we just knew Bob as a friendly Y member. He was the kindest soul and a fervent supporter of our Teen Leaders Club. He always had encouraging words to offer or a quick compliment for someone's choice of sneakers (especially Chuck Taylor All Stars!). He was a true model of the Y's core values: caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility—with extra emphasis on caring.We invite you to help us honor our friend Bob by playing the game he loved! Throw on your Chucks and bring your A-game and a smile to our 3-on-3 basketball tournament. All proceeds support Y Leaders' Club programs.
Bob's family has chosen to dedicate his Washington Bullets jersey to the Y in Arnold. After the tournament, join us for the unveiling which will hang proudly in our Y family center.
