Cystic Fibrosis is a chronic condition that sufferers have since birth and it badly affects their lungs, breathing and digestive system as well as a whole host of other complications.
It's a tough illness to live with and whilst many years ago most sufferers died in childhood, with modern medicine many people with the condition now live into adulthood.
In the northwest of England, one of the main hospital centres is the MACFC based at Wythenshawe hospital in Manchester. Dean would spend weeks and even months at a time in the unit. That is a common occurrence for patients as they spend prolonged periods of their lives in hospital and are also isolated from other patients in order to prevent cross-contamination of potentially lethal infections.
Dean was always passionate that if we were to raise money, he wanted it to directly impact the quality of CF patients' lives on the ward. And by raising money for the MACFC we can do just that.
Over the years, Dean and we, his family, became really close to some of the doctors and nurses who work at the MACFC and many of them were surrounding him, along with his family as he passed away on the 13th March 2019.
It's a wonderful place with wonderful people.
Therefore, on the 13th September 2025, we are organising a charity dinner to raise as much money as possible for the MACFC in Dean's honour.
• Individual tickets are £50 per person for a three-course dinner and we're aiming to have a grand raffle, music and DJ.
