About this Event
A " pay as you will" half hour lunch time classical music opportunity in the historic St. Anna's Chapel on the campus of St. Paul's Episcopal Church.
This program consists of a series of four part polyphonic chansons from various composers in the Franco-Flemish region during the height of the European Renaissance. The themes of the pieces range from jubilant to unreciprocated love. This theme of courtly love originated during the Middle Ages and persisted into the poetry of sixteenth century writers. Composers like Orlando de Lassus, Josquin de Prez, and Thomas Crecquillon utilized these texts to create impactful vocal textures that influenced polyphonic writing all over Europe.
