Sustainable Seas, hosted by Te Puna Umanga Venture Taranaki, invites you to join the conversation as we explore opportunities for a sustainable Blue Economy in Taranaki and the impacts and benefits for the region.
This insightful session will dive into Sustainable Seas’ decade of research along with real-life examples from across Aotearoa of the Blue Economy in practice, including cutting-edge new products, emerging sectors, and regional approaches to building a Blue Economy while upholding kaitiakitanga.
Over the past 10 years, the Sustainable Seas National Science Challenge has researched the foundations, applications, and unique New Zealand and indigenous aspects of our blue economy, specifically investigating opportunities for marine activities that generate economic value and contribute positively to ecological, cultural, and social well-being. Sustainable Seas’ research shows that enabling a blue economy will help unlock economic growth and increase the resilience of industries and communities that depend on healthy seas for employment and income.
