About this Event
Please join us at Philosophers & Fools for “The Bitter & the Sweet,” a cooking demonstration and story-driven tasting experience for Black History Month and Valentine’s Day.
Join food-ways historian and documentary filmmaker Julian Gooding for an engaging program that explores chocolate as both a symbol of luxury and a lens into African American history. This flavorful program begins with “Caesar’s Chocolate,” exploring the history and legacy of one of Virginia’s earliest chocolate makers, then shifts to the kitchen as Julian demonstrates West African hot chocolate and homemade chocolate truffles—perfect for Valentine’s Day. To close the truffle portion, participants will have the chance to decorate truffles to package as edible gifts.
Your ticket will also include a glass of house red, house white, a beer or a non-alcoholic beverage. Additional beverages will be available for purchase.
Seating is limited to our bar to allow for an intimate, focused experience; so buy your tickets today!
